[Original document, rare] Concerns the rights of former Confederates in the post war government. Should they be allowed to hold office? (Much like the questions surrounding Trump today). "The issue is a plain one. Are the men and party that attempted to destroy the Union in the interests of slavery to be entrusted with its administration and defense in behalf of a sectional policy and state sovereignty? The answer cannot be doubt. the old battle cries are heard, we’ll rally round the flag boys, we'll rally once again, shouting the battle-cry of Union." Lists the names and gives the biographies of former Confederates with seats in the 44th congress by state and district.
