Here's a clean, properly functioning Gray Pay Station that dates to about 1910.
The phone is original throughout, including the paint, the chimes, the locks, etc. No restoration has been undertaken, and no restoration appears needed.
This is how you want to find an antique pay phone, but they rarely turn up in such pristine condition. Chimes sound nicely, coins don't get stuck in the chutes, back opens easily, coin drawer opens easily too.
The receiver terminals meter at 72 ohms, so the phone should be electrically viable if wired properly, but you'll need to find a "phone guy" to do that for you.
