From the ukiyo-e shunga collection of the International Research Center for Japanese Studies in Kyoto, the editors have carefully selected approximately 300 masterpieces based on their beauty. In order to fully appreciate the sophistication and beauty of shunga expression, the artist's skill, and the world of the work, all the pictures are presented in the original form of a set of 10 to 30 pieces, rather than picking out the representative works of each title and presenting them piece by piece as in a regular art book.
