Vintage Tether Car "OHIO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP"-TROPHY -Akron ,Oh.- 1947


 H        Being offered is a State Championship trophy. Engraved:  AMRCA—1947—OHIO STATE CHAMPION—CHAS. M. MILLIRON—OCT.5th, 1947—107.01 mph. –SPUR GEAR CAR    the trophy is 14 ½” tall with a 6” base. It has not been cleaned, and is in very good condition for being over 70 years old....... Charles Milliron (AMRCA # 2027) was a member of the Akron Model Race Car Club which was a part of the Northeastern Ohio Circuit that included : Akron, Hamilton, Columbus, Youngstown and Cleveland...... The Akron clubs track was at the airport and had about 35 members. The state championships was hoisted by the Youngstown Miniature Race Car Club There track was located on a 58 acre parcel of land that also included a U-control circle for model airplane flying. A total of 51 cars were entered from all over the state. Mr.Milliron won the spur gear class with a McCoy car,   powered by a Dooling .61 engine, and was second fastest car at the event. More than 3,000 spectators attended the race. Included with the trophy is a copy of the race results from a Model Craftsman magazine article. A rare addition to any Midwest collection.
