This is an unusual Victorian or Edwardian bloodstone ring, in a hexagonal setting. No hallmark. Judged to be rose gold plated (untested) with a silver bezel setting. Possibly Scottish/ Celtic in origin.

UK Ring Size: L 1/2

US Ring Size: 6

Total weight: 1.3g

Condition: Fairly good antique condition with minor signs of wear and tarnishing. The plating has worn away in places to reveal the base metal underneath.

"Heliotrope, also known as bloodstone, is a mixture of quartz that occurs mostly as jasper or sometimes as chalcedony. The "classic" bloodstone is opaque green jasper with red inclusions of hematite." Wikipedia

Bloodstone has a fascinating history, is also known as 'martyr's stone', and is one of the birthstones for March. Would make a lovely gift!
