This outstanding Pair of 19th century Otoe Moccasins each measure approx. 10" long at their stiff, parfleche hide soles. The decoration is beautiful with a stylized floral designs in colors of pea green, chalk white, medium blue, red white-heart, dark blue and pumpkin. The Moccasins are sinew sewn and very beautiful!

    It should be noted that the Moccasins offered here are NOT tourist trade items – they show honest wear from many years of use by the original Native American wearer. There are very old, sinew sewn hide repairs at the heels of both of the Moccasins and the parfleche soles are a very old replacement that themselves show honest wear from use.

    This very rare and very beautiful, Pair of 1880’s Bead Decorated Otoe Moccasins are in very good condition and display nicely. These are well used Moccasins and although intact and sound do have old, sinew sewn repairs to both of the heels as can be seen in the scans below. The parfleche soles are worn with surface cracks and appear to be VERY old replacements – do by the original owner as was the make-do repairs on the heels. The beadwork is stunningly beautiful with some minor and unobtrusive loss at the edges of the floral design elements. Again we must stress that these Moccasins were worn for many, many years and show honest wear and great care taken by the original Otoe owner to extend their useful life!!
