Description
This is a beautiful, big, "Crown" or “Silver Dollar” size, silver, "Commemorative" Two Pesos from Mexico. These were only struck in 1921 to celebrate the “Centennial of Mexican Independence” from Spain.
When Napoleon put his brother Joseph on the Spanish throne, Mexico, then called "New Spain", and the other Spanish American "Colonies" known as "The Indies", revolted and over time, became free Republics.
This is the only two Pesos ever struck by Mexico in Silver. The contemporary, regular issue two Pesos, were small gold coins and the later issues were Aluminum-Bronze.
Certified by the American Numismatic Association Certification Service or "ANACS" as Almost Uncirculated 50.

Obverse: ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS •/• Mo (Mexico City mint mark) •/• MDCCCXXI (1821-1921) MCMXXI • Eagle, with snake in beak, standing on a cactus. • This, the National symbol of Mexico, stands for the Aztec legend that foretold they were to make a great empire in a marshy area where they would see a cactus with an eagle standing on it eating a snake. The site where this actually happened is now Mexico City.
Reverse: DOS PESOS • 24 Gr. PLATA PURA • Liberty.

The Coin: A big impressive coin, it saw a few hands. It has been authenticated and graded by a prestigious third-party grading service. Even though it has been professionally graded, that is just an opinion and grading is subjective, so please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
