The text is primarily geared to discussing the physical characteristics of the aircraft and how they developed over time, from the original prototypes to the final versions in service at the end of the war. There is practically no discussion of the non “A” versions of this aircraft (i.e., the ground attack “F” version for example). There is some text relating to non-physical characteristics such as leading pilots. In addition, there is a very good 2-3-page discussion on the aesthetics of the aircraft (i.e., camouflage schemes, markings of a very wide variety [call numbers, squadron symbols, etc.], how the shades of blue on the underside changed as the war progressed, etc.) that would be of particular interest to the model builder or illustrator.
In short, this book should be of interest to those who have a curiosity relating to the development of the physical characteristics of the plane as well as to model builders and illustrators.
