this is just so kitch could even be used outdoors ,id never seen another like it its an early plastic although after an internet search to find another i did find one and its identical but it says its metal, but im sure its plastic its very lightweight it is slightly weighted on the base please do study the pictures ,its received so many comments when guests have seen it in lounge noone beleives itsd plastic ,i think its mid centuary it definatly isnot new 

It has an inscription of MOD. DEP (i.e. Modello Depositato i.e. Registered Pattern) along side the initials L M.
