FireWire 800 (FireWire 1394b) is the new version of the popular FireWire interface which doubles the throughput of the original IEEE-1394a FireWire interface from 400Mbps to 800Mbps!

"Bilingual" refers to cables that are used to connect FireWire 800 to FireWire 400, and have a 9 pin connector on one end and a standard 6 or 4 pin on the other end. This cable can support older versions of the following devices; Mac mini, iMac, MacBook Pro, digital devices such as scanners, memory card readers, and digital cameras.
