This is a pen and ink sketch by George Lane for The Motor magazine, illustrations for a story by Stanley Sedwick about driving a Daraccq published in 1949.  Shows the Darracq on a country lane with a Hillman Minx in the foreground going down a different fork in the road.  Has a title in red pencil underneath the mount "Seeing things found it difficult to believe his eyes and took a wrong turning".  The drawing is not signed by Lane.

I am not a specialist in veteran cars but this looks like a circa 1904 Darracq - is this Genevive?

On the reverse is The MOTOR EDITORIAL DEPT handstamp also other stamps and date 9 Nov 1949 and printer's instructions.

The artwork is 26 x 32 cm but this is mounted in a pale blue mount to give a visible 21 x 29 cm.  The overall size of the blue mount is 36 x 43 cm.  See also the 2 other companion illustrations from the same article which are also listed on eBay.

The drawings are part of a large collection of artwork built up over the last 45 years to act as reference for my website about motoring art and artists -  www.motoringart.info look here to see more details about this artist

As I reach the age of 80 it is time to sell so everything must go!
