Pair Of Rare Antique Hanging Modernist 'Shed Art’ Plates, Folk Art

2 hexagonal metal plates, 19cm diameter approx

Dated around 1920

This design concept was known as 'shed art' and was involved moulding together, a variety of random small collectable objects together and then painted over, to form a design montage.

The objects include such random items as bobbins, spoons, thimbles, pen knobs, buttons, keys, nutshells, screws, wishing bones, shells, chains, stones, buckles, bolts, nails, eyelets and washes etc  

Used condition, with some marks, scratches, wear, surface deterioration, paint loss and dints.
