The 1842-O is conditionally challenging in all grades but really becomes scarce in the upper circulated levels. The vast majority of the 350,000 coin mintage was consumed by commercial use. This incredible gem survivor saw fantastic preservation! Frosty, distraction free surfaces are toned a pleasing olive-gold, blended with orange highlights. Considerable strike weakness is noted on Liberty's head and the lower portion of the wreath, as is typical. The overall eye appeal is most impressive for the Mint as well as the issue.
