Gaggia Classic Espresso Coffee Machine/Maker - 1425W 2002 Model - Made In Italy

An early 2002 Gaggia Classic espresso machine in ’good-used-unmodified’ condition. Please remember it is 22-years-old, so it does have some evidence of use and age (a couple of very small dings on the rear panel), and it is in very good condition for its age.

This is one of the earlier stainless steel polished machines (later machines has brushed steel as a finish).

The portafilter contains an early version of the ‘perfect crema’ insert, and on this machine it takes the form of a rubber disc with a small pinhole in the middle which presumably acts as a small venturi to produce crema.

This is an earlier Italian-made machine with a power output of 1425W. It is in original, unmodified, and ‘factory’ condition with the 3-way solenoid valve. No modifications have been made to this, so it is obviously a blank canvas for modification with a PID etc. It is clean inside (see penultimate photo below).

It hadn’t been used for many years when I recieved it. Knowing this, I took my time getting it going, and after priming it, steam came out of the wand, and water came out of the group head. There were a few scratches on the top where cups have been placed, so while I was cleaning it, I inverted it so that the top shows shiny metal again.

I have not done ANY descaling on this. Bearing in mind that I am in the South of England (a very hard water area), there is likely to be some calcification internally, but, because it is currently running, I decided to leave it alone and leave it to the buyer to use their own scale prevention program based on where they live.

It will be packed very carefully for shipping.

What you see in the photos is what you will receive.

I note that eBay’s catalogue, which many people use to auto-fill a number of fields when preparing eBay listings, tends to list all Gaggia Classic machines as 1425W, when in fact most are later 1300W machines (if you search for 1425W machines on eBay, the search algorithm will also return 1300W machines) so you need to check with the vendor exactly which machine they are selling if they haven’t photographed the manufacturer’s label. You will see from the label on the bottom that this is one of the genuine 1425W Italian machines.
