Fluorite Crystal Cluster Display Specimen - Durham - Gregory, Bottley & Co Label

A super display specimen of Flourite from Durham. The label is from Gregory, Bottley & Co from the shop in Chelsea and from its format, would appear to be from circa 1930's. The specimen has well formed grey included Fluorite crystals up to 10mm, overgrowing purple Fluorite. Most of the crystals are twinned and undamaged.

As is typical of most Fluorites from the Durham area, there is a difference in colour between natural and artificial light due to its property of fluorescing under UV light and the pictures show the crystal under both types of light for comparison (the last 9 photos are in natural light).

The Fluorite crystals measure up to 10mm on the longest edge. The cluster as a whole measures 4 x 3 x 2.5cm and weighs 50g. (All weights and measures are approximate).

This piece comes from a from a lifelong collector of minerals who mainly self-collected from all over the world and the UK.
