Lloyd Merriman was an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds in 1950 and this is his Bowman rookie card.

Bowman and Topps were the two primary manufacturers of trading cards in the 50s. Baseball card collecting was a high-growth industry captivating fans of the sport.

The post-WWII era in baseball was dominated by the Yankees, Dodgers, and the occasional showing by the Indians and Giants. In 1950, the “Whiz Kids” of the Philadelphia Phillies faced the Yankees in the World Series.

This card of the Reds’ Merriman has imperfections, including some significant scuffing around the front’s corners and borders but is in otherwise fair-to-poor condition and makes a very nice addition at a reasonable price to any serious collection of vintage baseball cards.

Please review very carefully the detailed pictures of the front and back of the card as this will be the exact card you receive upon purchase. I’m very conscientious and attempt to be very conservative in my judgement of condition and associated pricing. Look at the pictures, compare to comparably listed cards, and make your own determination. This card was long-term stored inside a ziplock bag in a smoke-free home with no previous owners.
