2022 Merry Christmas Santa Clause 1 oz .999 Silver Round

The holiday season brings with it the common, popular greeting of Merry Christmas exchanged by billions of Christians around the world and other revelers in the holiday. One of the more ubiquitous symbols of the season is the image of Santa Claus. A new collection of 2019 copper and silver rounds with his portrait makes the perfect stocking stuffer for numismatists.

Highlights:

Obverse

On the obverse face of the 1 oz Silver 2019 Merry Christmas Round is the portrait of Santa Claus. This front-facing portrait depicts the Santa Claus millions of North Americans recognize. He wears a winter knit hat with a bell at the tip and his thick, white beard fills out his jolly face. There is an inscription of Merry Christmas on this side of the round.

Reverse

The reverse of the 1 oz Silver Merry Christmas Round includes a collection of different snowflakes. True to real-life form, each one of these snowflakes is different in size, shape, and style from the others. Inscriptions on this side include 1 oz Silver 999 Fine.

History

Santa Claus has various origin stories that differ around the world, though most agree that the modern Santa Claus of North America has adopted characteristics of all the origin stories. Most tales of Santa originated with the 4th-century Greek bishop St. Nicholas who lived in what is now Turkey. He came from a wealthy family but gave away his fortune to the needy in his village, often doing so without the needy knowing exactly who had one so.
