Clear glass embossed beer or soda bottle from Sylvanus Bartlett of Lowell, Massachusetts, with original wire bail cap, circa 1890s to 1900s. The text on the front of the bottle has S. Bartlett, 160 & 162 Middlesex St., Lowell, Mass., set in a circle with Registered above and This Bottle not to be Sold on the heel. Sylvanus Bartlett (1825-1903) was a major New England bottler and also manufactured a wide variety of mineral water, soda, and beer. He was active from the 1870s until his death. A Moxie competitor, Bartlett also produced a popular nerve food. The bottle stands 10” tall and is just over 2 ½” in diameter at bottom. I was told this bottle was dug, but it’s very clean. The bottle is in very good condition with only very light wear and soiling. The wire bail cap is a bit rusty. A very nice early Lowell MA soda or beer!
