This rare c1912 postcard features the Hop Bottom National Bank in Hop Bottom, Pennsylvania.

The First National Bank of Hallstead, the original bank in Hallstead, PA was established in 1905. Five years later, in 1910, Hop Bottom National Bank, Hop Bottom charter number 9647 in Hop Bottom, Pennsylvania in Susquehanna county was granted a charter.

It lasted over 50 years until in 1965, the First National Bank of Hallstead merged with nearby Hop Bottom National Bank to form today’s Peoples National Bank.

This is a rare postcard, as, at the time of writing this, nothing exists of Hop Bottom National Bank on this website for sale. Few items from Hop Bottom at all are for sale.

The reference photo is a newspaper clipping from Der Morgen zshurnal = The Jewish morning journal (New York, N.Y.), January 16, 1913, where it mentions how much money the bank was holding at that time.
