We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currently listed along with an equally impressive collection of music boxes and other very nice antique and vintage collectibles.  Be sure to have a look at our other items!

I had always hoped to find time to do whatever is needed for this fine old clock but I simply don't have the time to do so these days like I used to. It's definitely not a basket case and it shows very well. Actually, the quarterly and hourly chimes work very well but it's not keeping time. If I had to guess, I'd say it just needs a main spring so have it repaired, repair it yourself, or leave it the way it is. Regardless, this is an impressive, heavy, well made, 8 Day, mechanical Westminster Chime tambor desk or mantel clock; some even call this a Napoleon's Hat mantel clock. It was created about 55 years ago in what was then, "West Germany." The case is made entirely of wood and finished in a very nice shade of blended dark mahogany; very nice! It measures about 8 1/2" at its highest, about 4" at its deepest point, and about 16 1/2" at its widest point. The clock is fitted with a precision, 8 Day, German, mechanical movement created by Franz Hermle and bears the West Germany point of origin. The lower part of the case is beveled and there are wooden supports underneath extending on each side from front to back. There is a brass metal trim bar on the lower case in front as well. The dial is surrounded by a hinged brass metal bezel with a convex glass crystal inset into it; no cracks or chips that I can see. It is quite secure yet opens easily to allow access to the three winding arbors located there as well as for setting the time. The dial has a white backdrop and features easy to read, black fancy Roman numerals to mark the hours and ornate brass metal, matching hands to point out the time. The back of the clock is wood too and there is a hinged wooden door with a wooden pull on it. It opens easily to allow access to the movement itself and for storing the metal winding key if you wish. The clock winds via the arbors located on the dial and is designed to last for about 8 days on a single wind. This is what you can expect automatically once repairs are made: it plays music too and goes through its paces by playing a remarkable four note melody on five metal chime bars at the quarter hour; eight notes at the half, twelve notes at the 3/4 hour mark, and the full sixteen notes at the top of the hour. It will then strike the current number of hours, just like Big Ben in London! The quarterly and hourly chimes work quite well here when the hands are moved manually. The time arbor does not wind and subsequently the clock does not keep time. Keep in mind this is a nice clock and not a new clock. We don't know the service history even though it does show signs of past maintenance but regardless, we always advise our clock customers to service their antique or vintage clocks at least once every three years. If you do this faithfully, you will preserve this classic clock and keep it healthy for years to come. The clock comes complete as shown with the metal winding key. I've looked the clock over fairly well and find that it shows average signs of use and some chipping of the veneer on the sides, front, and top of the case though it's still a very nice looking clock. It has a stunning patina and is simply gorgeous on display! This clock is certain to dazzle you and any guests seeing or hearing it in your home, office, or wherever it is that you care to showcase a rare chiming timepiece with a fabulous legacy behind it. Have it repaired, repair it yourself, or leave it the way it is. Regardless, bid with confidence; I have no doubt that you will love this clock!

We're selling this item and everything else we list with No Reserve, AS-IS, No Returns or Refunds, and a low starting bid so that everyone has an equal chance to own this rare clock!  We'd be glad to send more pictures if available; just ask!  My wife and I have been accumulating lots of nice antiques and other collectors items over the years.  But now is a good time to start clearing out the things we no longer wish to keep.  We will give the money we raise from ebay sales to a ministry we support that is helping to construct orphan homes and schools in Kenya and China, resettling refugees from the Sudan, and lending assistance to victims of terror like those in Israel.  It's just something we enjoy doing and this is where your money will go once you have paid for this item.  We do all that we can to accurately describe each item to the best of our ability.  Our terms are pretty simple; payment is due on or before the 2nd day following the close of sale.  The winning bidder will be sent an invoice following the close of sale through EBAY Checkout.  Buyer is to pay for shipping and handling; we generally ship by the US Postal Service and sometimes by Federal Express.  An international buyer will pay additional postage and is encouraged to get a shipping estimate from us prior to the close of auction.  In most cases, payment can be made by VISA or MasterCard by calling our office or through Pay Pal in US funds.  Please note that all transactions will be given the appropriate feedback.  Bid often and have Fun!
