1972 Press Photo Toyota's sporty Celica ST has optional automatic transmission

This is an original press photo. An optional three-speed automatic transmission is being offered on the sporty Toyota Celica ST for 1973. A four-speed, all-synchromesh manual transmission remains standard. Other refinements for '73 include a restyled grille, hood vents, rear deck, taillights and wheel covers. Inside, there's a new instrument cluster and center console complemented by a simulated wood-grain dash, steering wheel and shift knob. The new Celica is equipped with impact-absorbing safety bumpers and reinforced doors. Toyota Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 11-28-1972.
