This rare document from 1827 certifies the import of 14 cases of muskets through the Port of Boston.

Charles Handy Russell was a prominent figure in Boston’s import/export business during that time period — later, he became President of the National Bank of Commerce in New York.


This piece serves as a fascinating glimpse into Boston’s trade history and the importance of weaponry in the 19th century. It would make an excellent addition to any collection of historical documents.
