Tree Sparrow, the most commonly-seen wild bird in Japan perched on Japan's most popular flower, Sakura cherry tree; it may be one of the most frequent subjects for Japanese paintings, hence perfect for display.
The cup will also show you a neat feature. If you hold it up to the light, you'll see a a lovely lithophane geisha smiling in the bottom of cup.

In the mid 1900's, a large quantity of Geisha porcelain cup and saucers were exported from Japan mainly to Europe and Australia. Even though drastically decreased in quantity, there are a few manufacturers in my local area that are still producing these geisha cups. However, as aging craftsmen die or retire, and few young replacements enter the porcelain industry, lithophane geisha cups will soon be discontinued. So please don't miss out on this opportunity.
