Usually, when I attend estate sales, I stand in line way before it is set to open just to have a shot at things I might want. Once in a great while I get special invites to "pop-up" sales where only a select few buyers are invited, and that was the case with this exquisite Brazilian rwood box. If you have shopped my store in the past then you know how much I love all sorts of antique boxes, and I was thrilled to find this one on the floor under a pile of 'stuff'. It is of very high quality in terms of construction...elegant yet simple in ornamentation and made from one of the worlds most beautiful woods. The inside frame that holds the mirror is constructed just like a period picture frame would be with a lemon gold liner...nice detail! In a tiny little brass circle inlaid into the top, the name 'Mary' and the date 1873 is engraved...refined and unassuming...I love it. I am always tempted to price things that I really like a lot high, so that they hang around and I get to enjoy them, but I will resist the temptation..lol. Whoever gets this is going to love it!...just, please no ridiculous low offers, I will not counter, just decline.
