NOTE: Please read all of the text in the description!

Way back in the 1960s, Porsches, made by Volkswagen, were pretty popular but very expensive. Volkswagen introduced a car call the Karmann Ghia, that was considerably less expensive than a Porsche and the Karmann Ghia garnered the nickname, "The Poor Man's Porsche" as it was affordable to more people. In that same sense, we call this version of our custom 200A, "The Poor Man's 202"! The lantern you see pictured is a 200A that was made in October of 1966. 202s were made between 1954 and 1963.

This 200A had bad paint on it. It has been media blasted professionally and a ceramic coating called "Chromex" applied. Chromex is used by hot rodders to give their exhaust headers the look of chrome. Chromex can handle heat up to 1300 degrees. On a lantern fount, it has the look of chrome with an orange peel affect. As Chromex is a thin coating, any roughness in the metal can be seen.

The burner frame and ball stud bracket have also been treated with Chromex. To complete the look of a 202, the lantern has the vent from a Coleman Model 5101 lantern and a new 202 type decal/logo.

This 200A has been completely disassembled and all parts cleaned or replaced as needed. Upon reassembly, it received a new fuel cap gasket. This 200A has a red letter Coleman globe. The pump leather has been oiled, The lantern pumps up and holds pressure. When the valve wheel is opened, there is the familiar hiss and gurgle of a working lantern.

Please note! As hard as we try to get the check valve cleaned up, they will sometimes still leak unless the valve stem is closed, as Coleman literature states.

NOTE: Did we mention, that this lantern is NOT a 202?

We are pretty sure it is more affordable than a used 202 and this 200A will light up your campsite just as well as any 202 with almost the same classiness!
