This colorful, 1925 Circus Program measures approx. 6 3/4” by 10” and contains 128 pages plus its original, chromolithograph front paper wrap (rear cover is lacking). The Program does not contain a Schedule of Acts insert.
The Program has a fantastic, Chromolithograph Front Cover featuring a white face Circus Clown superimposed over a bird’s-eye-view of a massive Circus Tent. The Program is missing the rear cover.
The Program includes extensive text and photo illustrations about the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Barnum and Bailey themselves, the various acts and performers, the menagerie, and other aspects of the show. Scattered throughout the Program are illustrated advertisements of all sorts.
This elaborate Circus Program is from the 1925 Season and published by The Select Printing Co. of New York City. It is in good condition only- the front cover is attractive but has edge wear, some soiling, tape reinforcement at the spine and in the margins and it has a small repair to a hole in the area of the clown’s right ankle. The rear cover is lacking. The interior pages are tight and near complete with a single leaf having the upper half clipped. Otherwise the interior pages are complete, tight and generally well preserved. As stated above, the Program does not include the “Schedule of Acts” insert.
A rare and original, 1925 piece of American Circus History and, with all faults, still a nice addition to any collection!!
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a reproduction, restrike, reprint, reissue or later copy - this is an original, period, 1925 Circus Program printed and sold to the public that attended the Circus in 1925.
