Very rare and fascinating, 1946 American Football Board Game titled “Tom Hamilton’s Pigskin” - a board game with very complex game play and a large number of pieces – by Parker Brothers.

This outstanding Board Game comes in its original, paperboard box which measures approx. 15 1/2” by 12 1/2” by 1 3/4” deep. The ;id of the Box features a central, paste down label with an image of a football flanked by two full figure portraits of Tom Hamilton – one as a star player on the Naval Academy football team and the other as its coach.

The Folding Game Board measures 24” by 12” and features a complex game play board in the form of a football field. The Game is complete and includes the Game Board, all 50 wooden game pieces, all 54 playing cards (50 cards for game play and 4 advertising / information cards), a large pad of unused “Chart-O-Graph” forms used to track the game play, the two original colored pencils used to track the game play and the instruction booklet and advertising flier.

A cursory look at the rules of play lead us to believe that this was meant to be a realistic representation of the actual play of a live football game with strategy and play calling being more important than chance which dominates the majority of similar sports subject board games.

This very rare and fascinating, “Tom Hamilton’s Pigskin” Board Game displays nicely and is in very good condition. The original Box is complete but the side flaps of the lid are all separated at the corner junctions and some of the flaps are partially detached from the top of the lid. The Game Board is exceptionally well preserved – clean and crisp and showing no significant game play. The pad of “Chart-O-Graph” forms is near complete as issued with a handful of the initial forms filled out detailing the few games that were played by the original owners. All of the wooden markers are present although 2 of the yellow markers have pieces of black electrical tape on the surface (why we have no clue). The Deck of Game Cards is complete and the Cards are generally well preserved although one of the cards have a strong, vertical crease. The instruction booklet is present but somewhat worn. Overall the Game is well preserved as can be seen in the scans below.

A very rare and fascinating, 1946 “Tom Hamilton’s Pigskin” American Football subject Boxed Board Game and a fantastic addition to any collection!!
