Offering here today for parts because I know there is someone out there trying to fill out missing bits in their Palais Royal sewing box!

This little etui would have retailed from one of the fabulous artisans at the Palais Royal.  If you were among the wealthy, a piece from the Palais Royal was a status symbol.  These needlework boxes with their delicate mother of pearl pieces, were rarely actually used for needlework.  Some pieces also came with a pair of steel scissors, which would have likely been the only pair ever used, and are the most frequently missing from the boxes.

This box has had a hard life.  The box itself is damaged really beyond repair, unless you are super skilled and dedicated, but the tools inside are amazing.

The mother of pearl handled scissors are decorated with swans and what I am fairly certain are 18k details. These usually were.  But please note that I have NOT had them tested, so bid accordingly.  They measure approximately 3.5" long.  They are very delicate and the points do not close flush.  I have not tried to open and close them as the are stiff and I don't want to risk breakage.  A bit of oiling and care from a jeweler and I'm sure this could be easily rectified.

The stunning mother of pearl thimble shows some small chips on one side, underneath the gold banding.  Displays beautifully from the other side when inserted into the box.  There is a tiny spool, approximately 5/8" long - ridiculously hard to find - and the tiny winder is approximately 3/4" across.  The silver gilt topped crystal scent bottle measures approximately 2 5/8" long and even its tiny crystal stopper is still present.   The stiletto has gold banding and measures approximatey 3.5" long.  The tip is slightly bent.  Sadly, the needle case is missing from the box.

Again, this box is very, very damaged.  The mirror is shattered and the lid is separated from the box.  This is being offered for the parts inside only, so please be aware of all of this before bidding.  Super hard to find pieces that would be wonderful to fill out someone else's Palais Royal piece.

Please ask all questions before bidding.  If you need more photos, we are happy to provide them.  Thanks for looking!
