Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States ; colorful cartoons, caricatures and political satire of the issues of the day.

The front cover of this issue features a color illustration by Louis M. Glackens (1866-1933), American illustrator, animator, and cartoonist.

President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) bangs the " New Nationalism " drum at an " Indian Medicine Show ," offering " Outlook Tonic , Nature's Remedy for All Ailments ." The wagon is surrounded by a throng of people waving cash and eager to buy the cure.

( Lady Justice , with her shield raised, doing battle with the large, looming shadow of " Incorporation ", while the wealthy, corpulent " Individual " who casts it sits comfortable and secure, untouched.  In the background corner, Corporation Lawyer and Corporation Legislator control the flame which creates the phantom corporate shadow.  
A shadow can not be harmed by any weapon which Justice wields ; it is the individual behind the shadow which must be targeted. )
