This is a torch only and does not include any fuel hose, fuel tank, oxygen tank, oxygen regulator or oxygen hose etc which must be sourced separately. The torch needs a standard Oxygen tank and regulator (same as oxy-acetylene uses) BUT requires a Hi Flow oxygen regulator for use of larger tips. (See chart for oxygen consumption rates) Pretty much any container can be used as a diesel tank including an inexpensive plastic item from the likes of Walmart, Home Depot, Harbour tool etc however some plastics can deteriorate over time when used with petroleum based products (like diesel) so if longevity is desired the appropriate care should be taken when selecting something to use as a fuel container. Similar with the hose requirement - pretty much any hose will do for diesel including rubber or PVC however usually lower cost plastic and standard rubber hoses will eventually degrade over time and the diesel industry usually suggests nitrile rubber hose as the best long term option.

# Note: Although the standard 21 inch torch is capable of using the larger tip and therefore cutting up to 14" thick steel the huge amount of heat generated with large tips makes it near impossible to use this length torch to cut very thick steel. An operator wanting to cut very thick steel really needs a 36"or 48" long torch to get some operator distance from the cutting flame. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
SUPACUT Oxy-Diesel cutting system utilizes standard compressed oxygen with diesel as the combustible fuel (instead of acetylene or propane) and has approximately four times the power but is up to 90% cheaper to run !
(Tools are easy and very safe to use). Other DAVCO cutting tools are also available using either Diesel or Gasoline and various types and lengths including tools for installation in CNC or robotic systems.
OPERATIONAL ADVANTAGES:
Dramatic cost savings: Utilizing diesel instead of acetylene as the combustible fuel has an outstanding effect on reducing operating costs. When using diesel, fuel costs can be reduced buy up to 90%! Oxygen consumption can be reduced by up to 30% (compared to propane)
Speed: Cutting speed is often 30% faster than an acetylene based system.
Performance: A DAVCO SUPACUT Diesel Boss torch will quickly and easily cut through steel up to 12" (with the appropriate hand piece and cutting tip).
Versatility: Cutting flame can often easily cut across voids (air space between plates). Cuts through paint, dirt, rust and other contaminating surface materials coating old steel.
Safer cuts: Utilizing diesel (as a fuel) this system provides almost 100% oxidation during cutting so a skilled operator can leaves a clean cut finish with minimal molten steel in the slag.

Q. Does the product do all that oxy-acetylene cutting torch does?
A. YES ...and MORE. The SUPACUT DIESEL Boss Oxy-diesel system was designed as a VERY powerful cutting system and that is its primary strength.
Q. Can I heat and bend steel?
A. YES, with a 3000 degree flame the cutting torch can also be used for heating work if needed
Q. Can I braze with this system?
A. Maybe. This is primarily designed for cutting steel but as its a very high temperature flame when used with a delicate touch in an emergency situation we guess yes you could braze. (Other better brazing options out there)
Q. Where can I purchase the oxy-diesel fuel ?
A. Oxy-diesel is not a single product. The diesel required is just regular diesel you buy for your motor vehicle, same place you get fuel for your diesel truck, pickup, tractor etc.
Q. Why do you say the oxy-diesel system is more powerful than oxy-acetylene?
A. Due to the properties of diesel the gas vapor is about 4 times as heavy (dense) as oxy-acetylene so has much more "punch" and as the liquid fuel vapourizes (as it leaves the tip) it undergoes a huge volume increase which produces a very high velocity flame (think like a jet engine - different function but similar outcome with a high speed flame). This high speed pushes the preheat flame much further and more powerfully than is possible with an acetylene or propane flame.
Q. If I need to cut a hole in a piece of steel can I cut through plate or other solid surface or do I have to drill a hole first?
A. No pre drilling is not needed. The SUPACUT is MUCH better at punching through metal than an acetylene system. As the vapor is approximately 4 times heavier/more dense than acetylene and the flame is almost 100% oxidizing, SUPACUT torches can easily cut a hole and as the cut has minimal heavy/hot waste. it cuts thru easier consuming the steel as it penetrates. (acetylene has about 30% molten steel waste that puddles and has to dangerously be blown out of the hole being cut).
Q. Do I need oxygen?
A. YES. Oxygen is needed for the torch to function so a standard oxygen setup is required just the same as for an acetylene or propane system. However, the SUPACUT can use up to 30% less oxygen than a gaseous fueled torch system.
Q. Can I use compressed air instead of oxygen?
A. NO. This will not work with compressed air. Like acetylene or propane you MUST have OXYGEN to achieve the flame temperatures required for operation
Q. Does a fuel tank need to be pressurized
A. NO - the torch is designed in such a manner the flow of oxygen thru the torch draws the diesel into the tip, then mixes the diesel and oxygen and the resultant vapor is burnt to provide the cutting flame
Q. How much diesel does the system use?
A. Diesel consumption is TINY. As a simple example if you were cutting 1/2" plate with a No. 1 tip, in one hour you should be able to cut about 100 ft of plate and use less than 1/4 Gal diesel (See chart in pictures).
Q. I see you offer Diesel and Gasoline torches. How do I decide which I should use
A. No simple answer. Some possible factors to consider. Diesel is safer and slightly more powerful, no special tank needed. Gasoline also cuts beautifully and economically but due to the higher flamability of gasoline we recommend the use of an explosion proof tank. However gasoline is pretty safe when handles appropriately. Consider how widespread its use is !! Perhaps consider are you mainly a Gasoline or Diesel user ? If you have mainly Gasoline vehicles and machinery perhaps gasoline. As a predominantly diesel user maybe go for diesel. Personally.... we prefer the diesel option but everyones situation will be different so have to make your own choice.
