Murder most Foul is a crime novel about a murder that takes place in a London theatre during a performance of Hamlet. The victim is the actor playing Polonius, who is stabbed to death on stage by the actor playing Hamlet, who claims it was an accident. But was it really ? And who had a motive to kill the unpopular Polonius ? 

It is one of the novels by Hector Hawton, who was a British writer and editor of crime fiction and philosophy.

He wrote several books featuring Inspector Simon Petrella of Scotland Yard.
