This stunning vintage Japanese porcelain vase is approximately 12" tall and 9" dia. Weighs over 5 lbs. It has hand-painted cranes or storks on it. Signed on the bottom. 

There is a teensy nick on the bottom unglazed rim (possibly from when it was removed from the kiln. And it looks to me like the black glaze of the feathers on some of the birds (especially the single bird) was inconsistent and so someone cold-painted where there were gaps. If you look carefully you'll see how some areas of feathers look a bit splotchy. It's possible that the glaze flecked off, but I don't think so, because there are no scrapes or wear to the surrounding glaze. I don't think it seriously detracts in any event.  Despite the wear or imperfections it is a truly eye-catching piece!
