This is a rare example of the apparently official reprint of the "Post Office" Mauritius one penny.  I have seen online websites suggesting that these were taken from the original plate circa 1930 in Paris, although no-one seems sure.  It is not one of the prints made by Stocken in 1912, as those only said "Reprint" on the back.

Most of the text on the back is ink-stamped, saying "Reproduction d'après l'original, No."  The number 800 is hand-written, in what appears to be very old fountain-pen ink.  The highest numbered copy I can find online is in the mid-800s.

All details match the original plate, and under high magnification I can see that the ink is raised, showing that it was made by pressing paper into an engraved inked plate ; so this is not a modern lithograph or computer-printed replica.

The item is in good clean condition with no thins or tears, though there is a small old hinge remnant and a tiny corner crease at bottom-left, just clear of the design.

Provenance : ex David Tarry, who among other awards won an international gold medal at the 2002 Amphilex show for his Mauritius exhibition.

Duty and taxes

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage cost.  These charges are the buyer's legal responsibility to pay.  Check with your country's Customs office to find out what these extra costs will be, before bidding.  These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight company, but they are not additional shipping charges.  In some countries and US states, by law Ebay must collect these taxes at the point of sale, so they will appear as an extra Sales Tax or VAT fee on your Ebay/PayPal bill.  These fees go to your Government, not me.

Please note that I will not declare a false Customs value – doing so is a crime.
