This is a fair example of the 1848-59 Mauritius "Post Paid" one penny red-brown on grey paper, latest impression, SG 24.  It would make a good plating copy or low-cost spacefiller until you can afford a better example.  From position 7 on the plate of 12, with the letters of PAID leaning to the right, and distinctive joined R & I in MAURITIUS.

The item is in clean undamaged condition, with no thins tears or creases, but a rather heavy target postmark.  It has 3 good margins, slightly cut into on the left.  On the back is a pencilled expert mark, but I have been unable to identify it ; any suggestions would be welcome.

Provenance : ex David Tarry, who among other awards won an international gold medal at the 2002 Amphilex show for his Mauritius exhibition.

The Gibbons catalogue price is £800.

Duty and taxes

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage cost.  These charges are the buyer's legal responsibility to pay.  Check with your country's Customs office to find out what these extra costs will be, before bidding.  These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight company, but they are not additional shipping charges.  In some countries and US states, by law Ebay must collect these taxes at the point of sale, so they will appear as an extra Sales Tax or VAT fee on your Ebay/PayPal bill.  These fees go to your Government, not me.

Please note that I will not declare a false Customs value – doing so is a crime.
