The name 'argali' is the Mongolian word for wild sheep. The argali is a wild sheep that roams the highlands of western East Asia, the Himalayas, Tibet, and the Altai Mountains.

The obverse features the Mongolian coat of arms emblem, and the face value of the coin surrounded by the horns of an argali ram. The background is an intricate design with year date of "2022" hidden below the coat of arms.

The reverse features an ultra high relief depiction of a side view of the argali. In the background is a front facing argali ram with an intense gaze.
