2023 Cook Islands $5 Arethusa Antiqued 1oz Silver Coin NGC MS70

This 2022 Cook Islands $5 Arethusa Antique 1oz Silver Coin is graded a perfect MS70 by NGC. The coin has a very mintage of 1500. The coin comes with a themed box and Certificate of Authenticity.

This is the 4th issue of the series, a captivating nymph and companion to the moon goddess Artemis in Greek mythology. According to legend, she unknowingly bathed in a river belonging to the river god Alpheus, whom she inadvertently seduced with her beauty. Arethusa, wanting nothing of his advances, fled her home in Arcadia. Relentlessly pursued by Alpheus, she sought help from Artemis. The latter transformed the nymph into a stream under the sea, which emerges as a water fountain on the island of Ortygia in Syracuse, Sicily.

Obverse displays a profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions "QUEEN ELIZABETH II", "COOK ISLANDS" and "5 DOLLARS".

Reverse features a profile image of Arethusa with a dolphin image on each side of her profile.
