This is a classic all original 1:25th scale bronze 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 hardtop coaster type promotional car made by AMT. These promo cars were given away at Ford dealerships to customers who would stop in the dealer during the fall of 1963 through the summer of 1964 to test drive and hopefully buy a new Fairlane. Others were mailed by Ford to owners of 1963 Fairlanes to show them what the newly redesigned ones looked like. Still others were sold in hobby shops, department stores, and toy stores during that same time period. This car has no friction motor, so it was likely not sold in a store. The whole car molded in tan. The car was then factory sprayed with a clear coat containing tiny metallic specks. The resulting color matches "Chantilly Beige Poly" which was available on the real cars. By 1964 AMT was making promos out of the newer cycolac plastic that does not warp.
This car is in great lightly used condition. There are a few light marks in the roof, trunk, and hood. The shiny metallic bronze finish body is otherwise free of any other noticeable flaws such as deep scratches, cracks, chips, scuffs, dull spots, or fading. This all original car has never been home modified or repaired in any way since leaving the factory. Both windshield posts and vent posts remain complete, intact, and straight. The shiny clear glass is still perfect. It is crack, scratch, and craze free. The chrome on the bumpers and hubcaps shows little or no noticeable bleed-through anywhere. It appears to be not quite as shiny as it was when it was new, due to exposure to light and light handling. The matching tan interior is still nice. The glass and interior have never been out of the car. The factory melted tan washers holding them to the underside of the body are still intact. The matching tan molded plastic chassis is also still nice. All four black vinyl white-wall tires roll freely and straight on slightly rust coated metal axles. The original box is not included.
An rare vintage roughly 60 year old dealer promotional item in this decent condition is a must for any Ford, Meteor / Fairlane, Promotional, or 1:24th / 1:25th model car fan or collector who seeks the rarest and best available.
