The chart is produced in two sections. Folds down to 33 x 21 cm. Encased in green boards with gilt titling. Spotting to front cover of case and wear to edges; chart is in very good condition. The chart shows railways (and duration of journeys), steamship routes, distances, fares and journey times. Much additional information is included in separate boxes including: a gazetteer showing the population of the main towns; laws relating to - the railway, infectious diseases, births, inhabited house duty, personal rights & liabilities, bread & coal, land tax, insurance, duties on land values; the scale of fees for county court actions; postal information including the normal time taken by letters from London “in times of peace”; weights and measures; motor speed limits (which vary between 5 & 10 mph from town to town); motor marks; and currency exchange rates. There is a separate box showing the numbers of females engaged in various occupations - presumably reflecting the change in circumstances brought about by WWI.
