On offer is a C.V. Heljestrand 11/16" straight razor made from Swedish steel with a muted French point . With regards to grind, I would say it is in-between Quarter Hollow and near Wedge. I have provided relevant photo, so please draw your own conclusions as well. It comes with a box. I sourced this razor from Japan and was part of my collection of Heljestrand razors , which is one of my favourite brands. I have now cut down my rotation to strictly 8 razors and hence need to reduce my collection, which is very vast. I never really touched this razor and was put to storage alongside others. This razor has seen very little use really. Please note that this razor is not shave ready (but close) so it will need (further) honing. I won't be doing it so please enjoy doing it yourself or send it to a pro honer.
Condition Report: This razor is in very good condition with very few blemishes. There is some very light pitting (but not active rust), alongside some faint watermarks here and there. No rust to the cutting edge or close to it where it really matters. Very clean steel, which is quite hard with vintage carbon steel razors. The heel has been lightly trimmed and the area going towards the jimps (please see photo 6) in order for the razor to sit flat on the hone. There is an edge on the remaining part of the blade. Very little hone wear on the spine matches the one on the bevel, which means it doesn't need (much) "flattening". The blade is really sharp and cuts arm hair with light/ some effort. I think it needs just a light touch up, or at worst a medium range (5K) stone and upwards. Being a stiff grind , I wouldn't expect to shave them as easily as a Full Hollow. So that means it be very close to "shave ready". A high quality razor in such condition for a very reasonable price. More importantly in most stiff grind razors, the amount of hone wear is really excessive which makes correction work absolutely necessary. Not the case with this razor, which is quite rare. Being such a stiff grind, I wouldn't be so keen on recommending this razor to anyone just starting out. Priced to go!!!
