Antique Mourning Hair Brooch Pin Inner Double Glass Swivels
This has the old C closure. There is a lock of hair tied with a braided red something - almost looks like dyed hair because it is compiled of strands.
Measures 1-3/4" x 1-1/2" widest parts (total area)
This brooch is probably from the mid-1800's.
Overall in very good condition for it's age. Looks like it could be opened by prying apart. But I never tried it. Glass looks great.
The double glass part swivels.
I haven't tested the gold value - My guess is that the outer frame which is engraved, is probably gold filled. The inner glass frame part looks to be plated? I can't be sure - it looks more brassy than the outer frame.
