This antique felt child doll is a scarce and wonderful example of a Lenci Series 450, c. 1920's.

From 1926 to 1931, Lenci introduced Series 450 dolls to its catalogue offerings.  Series 450 child dolls were slightly older looking than their Series 111 counterparts with a thinner body, slimmer legs, arms, and face.   A similar example of this doll is depicted on page 111 of Nancy Lazenby's reference book, "Lenci: The History and the Dolls."  Please see my last photograph.  Series 450 dolls were produced for only five years by Lenci, and are rarely offered on the secondary market.  This factory original Series 450 also dons a very rare, special Series 2000 felt ensemble (just like the doll photographed by Lazenby).  Do not pass up your opportunity to add her to your collection today!

This charming little lady features soulful sideways glancing chocolate eyes framed by lashes, and normal eyebrows.  She also has one white highlight dot in the colored portion of each eye, and one highlight dot that is a few shades lighter than her iris.  This breathtaking girl has two dots on her lower lip as highlighter.  These meticulously hand-painted facial features remain virtually intact and vibrant in color.  As a Series 450, she has a disc-jointed body, and measures 13"H - the perfect cabinet sized Lenci doll.  Her auburn mohair wig is rooted and in good, well-kept condition as well.  She possesses separate fingers, except for her middle two fingers are sewn together.  She has double layer felt ears, and a zig-zag seam down the back of her neck too.  She dons the most adorable felt costume.  Her stylish Series 2000 ensemble is comprised of a button up coat, cloche hat, dress, undergarments, and shoes.  The multicolored geometric design on her chic coat is typical of the Art Deco era patterns included with Series 2000 dolls.  These outfits are described as possessing "felt coats and hats, pieced with geometric designs."

Excellent, preowned condition with age-related wear (including a few moth holes).  Minimal paint losses.  She can benefit from cleaning, but does not have any foul odors.  Please see my photographs to gauge her overall condition.
