Vintage / Antique 1950’s Merrythought Cheeky Bear from England

Merrythought bears are handmade even today

This bear has a soft velvet snout and orange eyes. It is in excellent condition with little to no hair loss, all foot pads intact, no split seams. A few loose stitches and evidence of possibly a small stitch-up in the back (see photos).

All limbs and head are jointed /articulated.

Each ear has a small jingle bell inside.

My mother purchased this bear in 1968 as a souvenir of her study abroad voyage to England aboard the Queen Elizabeth I - on its last voyage east before being retired upon returning to the US!

She’s not sentimental and doesn’t mind me listing it.
