An eye wash or eye bath cup was used for cleaning the eye with water or with a medicated solution. Although they have been replaced with the use of eye drops, they are sought after by collectors of cosmetic and medically related items.

We are offering a vintage cream colored and yellows speckled plastic eye cup attached to a black base with a tight fitting green cap or cover for protection while traveling. The base measures approximately 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches and the eye shaped bowl or cup stands 1 3/8 inches in height. It is in VERY GOOD condition.

The unusual and most interesting feature of this portable eye bath is on the bottom of the black base and is the name COLT with the oval shaped C encircling the remaining letters. Below this is the number 17 and marked at the other end of the base “Pat. Pending”.  The interior of the cap is also marked “Pat. Pending” and “Colt 79”. When one sees the name Colt, one immediately thinks of Colt Firearms.  Could they have made this to travel with a hunter for eye safety?  I don’t know, but Colt has used many logo and trademark images throughout the years and could also license their use to other companies.

There does not seem to be an abundance of Colt eye cups. It is a must for your collection of eye cups, medical or hygiene related items or for your dealer inventory.  NO RESERVE!
