I got these from a fellow whose stepdad had fought in the Southwest Pacific with the 1st Marine Division. He had purchased this book and some others on the same subject as a gift for his stepdad and in hopes that the books would induce the stepdad to speak of his war experiences. The books did not have that effect and the stepdad passed away without having volunteered to speak of his own experience. It's understandable.
