Up for auction at NO RESERVE is this vintage Mid Century Modern Italian pietra dura / “hard stone”mosaic inlaid plaque with a stunning landscape scene with countryside home and mountains in the background.

Colorful and beautiful handmade work of art, professionally framed.

The back of the plaque is likely signed by the original artist though the front does not seem to have a signature.

Done, I believe, in the 1960s and really a fantastic piece. I see blue lapis lazuli, perhaps some agate, and different types of marble stone used. They all come together wonderfully.

Frame measures 8.8” inches long and 7.5” inches wide (22.4 cm, 19.1 cm). The visible portion of the plaque including the stone border measures 4.5” inches by 5.8” inches and the colorful portion of the plaque measures about 4.2” inches by 3.2” inches (11.4 cm, 14.7 cm; 10.7 cm, 8.1 cm).

Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
