1918 Press Photo Arch Whitehouse, World War I aviator - hcb42787

This is an original press photo. World War I aviator, Arch Whitehouse, is the author of a new book, "Heroes and Legends of World War I" (Doubleday, $5.95; 16 pages of photographs). Mr. Whitehouse is shown in this 1918 photo wearing the famed British Sidcot flying suit, an electrically-heated combination available to all scout-fighter pilots at this time, when he was a member of a Home Defense squadron flying the renowned Sopwith Camel. Mr. Whitehouse, who has probably written more aviation stories, articles and books than any living author, is the author of "The Years of the Sky Kings," "The Years of the War Birds," "Legion of the Lafayette," and other books. Photo measures 8 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated --1918.
