The copyright page states 'A Pyramid Books - published February, 1964' and no further printings are listed, making this a first printing by this publisher. Book number F-974 and cover price of 40 cents is also correct for a first edition of this collection.

From the page 2 - About the Cover: The bearded, haloed satyr on the cover is a representation of the author by Ed Emsch, and was originally contracted for by Joe Ferman, publisher of Fantasy and Science fiction, and its editor Avram Davidson for a "Special Sturgeon Issue" of that wonderful magazine.

A close examination of the painting will show the cognoscenti That Emsch is indeed a perceptive and subtle student of Sturgeon and his works. Here are the shining machines, the passion, the magic and the outrageous which have always moved the undersigned and made him write.

Condition: Binding - very good, light front cover hinge crease by the spine, no spine reading creases, rear cover is creased around the upper corner, minor soiling, insides of cover and pages a little tanned. Dust jacket - none, as issued.
