I was first introduced to Kristiansen pipes in 2020 though they have been around since 2018 and are quickly becoming one of the most sought after pipes from Italy as they are being carved by an anonymous Danish carver from 6 year seasoned Italian briar with the fitting logo "Danish Design, Italian Taste". Maurizio Fraternale who is the distributor for pipes like Ser Jacopo and Caminetto was the mastermind behind the make and it has lived up to the hype with these pipes of extraordinary quality. If you haven't seen their latest offerings, look at the current stock in the online retail shops; impressive! I love the take on the Acorn here, a stunning pipe indeed! I think this pipe is a fantastic  representation of just how truly good these pipes are, amazing throughout. The bowl is beautifully formed showing substantial forward cant and feels awesome in hand, as comfortable as can be. The walls are thick and the chamber deep affording generous capacity. As the bowl tapers we find the signature point at the heel while about a third of the way up the bowl the shank protrudes Poker style with just a hint of bend and widens at the face where it is adorned with a lovely faux marble accent and meets the fancy Saturn Ring acrylic saddle stem with fishtail bit and inlaid silver "K" logo. Finish is a gorgeous natural and the grain quite spectacular showing straight and sweeping flame wrapping almost 360 degrees! If you haven't treated yourself to a Kristiansen pipe, it's hard to do much better than this!

Restoration Methods: I have been restoring pipes for 16 years and have taken bits and pieces from many guys whom I consider the best there ever was in the business and built upon it with my own experience and tricks of the trade. Each pipe is first cleaned by removing all cake, making the chamber smooth and round again if necessary, removing all gunk in the shank and stem with alcohol, then exterior cleaning and polishing of the stummel and stem with no oxidation left but at the same time leaving the vulcanite or acrylic and any logos intact. My restorations end with the pipe looking like new and being completely free from previous signs of use. I do not use salt/alcohol treatments in my bowls but rather if the pipe smells of prior tobacco I will put it in my ozone chamber to make neutral. Lastly, many guys ask me "how are your pipes so shiny!!??" I lightly use the fluffy edge of my white diamond buffing wheel to clean and restore stummels which removes all grime and oils while restoring the original factory luster. I then hand buff and finish with a flannel wheel with high quality carnauba applying multiple coats as they do at the factory as well. This results in the pipe looking as new and will keep it's finish with a simple terry cloth hand buffing at home. Enjoy!
