Very rare authentic Brittish London Bobby police helmet with the unique officer's number 999. These City of London Police "Bobby" helmets do not come up for sale very often. Made around 1990-2000. Size 7 1/4. There are other bobby helmets for sale but only one LONDON Bobbyone and it has the exquisite officer number 999!

The traditional Bobby helmet was named after the creator of the British Police Force, SIR ROBERT PEEL, who became Prime Minister under Queen Victoria. This particular version  known as a "Comb Top", replaced the earlier "ball top" and "rose top" helmets used in many areas. The pattern features a pronounced ridge on the top of the helmet, which is capped off by a silvered fitting bearing a coat of arms. The helmet, with blackened plate and metal trim, is for the City of London Police. The body is made of a rigid plastic-like material, covered with flocked artificial felt and trimmed in faux patent leather. The interior brim is lined with an artificial green dyed Moroccan leather, which gives the helmet a more authentic traditional appearance when worn. The crown lining is a thick styrofoam like padding, with a nylon suspension and chinstrap assembly.
