These steel and bone awls, punches or stilettos measure approximately 3 3/4 inches in length and were most commonly used to create or widen holes in fabric, leather, or canvas in preparation for easy sewing access with needle and thread. In addition, other functions were to turn under appliqué edges, poke out pointed areas, and pick stitches from a seam. The book “Antique Needlework Tools and Embroideries” by Nerylla Taunton shows a variety of these  necessary sewing notions in almost every sewing box.

Both punches, sometimes called stilettos, are in good condition and can still be used today in sewing and crafting projects. They are charming and functional. Selling together without a reserve!
